I
believe that the beginnings of EOS are quite unclear. I could say that it began the day we
decided to create our own songs instead of playing songs from Rush and other bands. Either
someone could say that it began in the early 90s when we gathered to play for the first
time. But I think we started when we even were not playing together. In the beginnings we
were young schoolboys who shared the same musical taste and we exchanged the at that time
scanty records from our favorite bands. Then, as the days went by, we learned to play by
rehearsing the songs from our "idols" sharing the dream that maybe some day we
will become good musicians. Therefore, the fact that we were gathering to play just for
the pleasure of playing was only a consequence.
With the turning of the years, we grew as friends, in our musical taste
and in our ways of playing. Also, the "rirtuals" that rehearsals
were becoming were gaining intensity because to the 3 original members (Marcel Salazar,
Bass; German Flores, Guitars and Rodrigo Andalaft, drums) two musicians were added
(Gabriel Draper, guitars and Sebastian Hodar, Bass) leading to a continuos change of roles
on guitars and bass.
Until that times the band played covers mainly from Rush, Pink Floyd,
Led Zeppelin, Live and Hendrix. That situation lasted for 2 years until we became tired of
playing the same songs again and again. Then Germán and I claimed for going to the next
step: to compose our own songs.
The task did not seem easy. And it was not!
The first attempts were quite frustrating and we were getting
inpatient. Unfortunately things were getting worse because Sebastian left the band due to
his new bossanova and jazz styles and Gabriel quit because he wanted a straightforward
guitar style.
In Spite of the trouble we have composed 9
songs
